How can I make a mature, Paris themed room more colorful WITHOUT looking juvenile?
I really want a mature, Paris themed room, but still have some color.
I like the general idea of this room:

But how can I add more color without making it tacky?
I was thinking some gold, navy blue and purple.. would that work?
Edit: is purple, black, & gold okay to add?
Unless your room is HUGE, I would only use one dark color. Otherwise it will make the room look small.
Both the color combinations you mentioned seem really heavy and not so Parisan.
One thing you could consider is two tones of a single color. Ex- lavender walls with a purple bedspread or ie blue walls with a navy bedspread. Then pick black OR white and silver OR gold (one of each) for accessories.
Grey and white with touches of light aqua could make a great parisan room: http://designheaven.wordpress.com/2008/05/15/so-french-so-chic/
That is sooo pretty.
I think keeping it with vintage furniture, pale colours, and little hints of Paris everywhere would be good.
I’d try and stay away from the dark colours like black and navy blue.
If you do it post a picture I’d looveee to see it!
If you are using the wall colors that are in the picture, I would only use the gold in varying tones. Some things a light gold, others a deeper, darker gold.
The 3 colors you mentioned would look fine together if you are using those 3 colors without the blues in the picture. Walls a light, light lilac-linens and curtains a mid-tone purple. Metal objects (bed frame) would look good a gold hue with the wooden furniture black with gold hardware(knobs, handles, etc.).
either of the color schemes you mentioned would be fine.
pick which color you want for your main color, which color you want to be your secondary color (you’ll use roughly 1/2 as much of the secondary color as you do the main color), the third color is your accent color–you’ll only use just touches of it here and there.
