How did the French imperialism of North and West Africa affect both areas?
I am doing a project on French imperialism in North and West Africa and we need to know things about France such as: reasons for desire to control the area, method of establishing control, advantages/disadvantages that resulted from this take over, and the overall outcome in relation to France. Also, we need information about the conquered areas such as: changes that were made and benefits (or lack of) received. I am having some trouble finding information so any help would be great. A good website would even help.
Alexis B is quite wrong. French imperialism affected North and West Africa in many ways. (and not because my mom told them to either, quite frankly she wasn’t alive then) Mainly though, there was a poor outcome so any good that might have happened, was eventually reversed by the African territories declaring their freedom.
