How do I go about obtaining French citizenship?
Ok, so here’s how it goes. I can be certain that my maternal grand-father was a French citizenship. I was not born in France (or, a DOM), and my mother does not hold her French citizenship, but we both speak french fluently and can trace our lineages back to other family residing in Nice and Aix-en-Provence. So, do I have any way of claiming french citizenship at all? Or do I have to go through the process of naturalization?
France citizenship is set up like many countries, when claiming citizenship, one cannot skip a generation in the descent lineage, from the grand father to grand child,a link is missing, which is your mother,
she would have to have french citizenship first to pass it on to you.
but? since she did not claim it trough her father? now, you cannot claim it.
and you cannot be naturalized, you have no claim tor it.

You could join the Foreign Legion. They will give you a French passport after at least 5 years of service. ( Everybody does 7)
