How much money does they average person spend a day in Paris?

So this summer I may go on a one month summer program abroad to Paris. I have 7 spending cash which is roughly 378.78 euros. On the trip I have to buy lunch and pay for souvenirs etc. Housing, program trips, breakfast, and dinner are taken care of… but not laundry and such. How much do you think I would spend a day, so how much money should I set aside for each day?
do you think that if i brought about 0 more american dollars I would be more comfortable?

Cabal has given you very good recommendations.

12 euros a day will not get you very far, but buying items from a supermarket will definitely cut down on costs. Rather than soda, a 150ml bottle of spring water can run you as low as .19 euros – from the Monoprix. A loaf of bread will run you similarly. Falafels, paninis and crepes can run as little as 5 euros. Eating cheaply one day will mean more money for you the next day!

As far as souveniers, it really depends on what you want. Maps of attractions will be a nice souvenier, but you can find Eiffel Tower keychains 2 for a euro at souvenier stands. Or you could haggle with the guys selling them under the actual Tower – I actually got them down to 4 for a euro. The best prices I could find for a t-shirt was around 10 euros in the souvenier shops on bd de Rouchechouart up in Montmartre. Magnets can be found for a couple of euros from the booksellers on the Seine – the little green boxes that sells books, posters and other knick knacks along the river..

As for laundry – I can’t help you there as all my trips there have been a week or less and that is what I pack for.

    Good luck and have fun!

You will very probably spend all you money. 380 Euros for 30 days is only 12 Euros a day. You will need to take the bus or the metro, 1.70 Euros a ticket, or you buy a card. Lunch, a sandwich is around 4-5 Euros. So, two tickets, one sandwich and you already have spent 8.40 Euros.

There are ways to cut down spending, buy your own food in supermarkets and make your own sandwich. Buy a small bottle of water and fill it at the tap, if you really want sodas buy them at the supermarkets too, you will cut down the price by three or four. Don’t eat or drink in touristy areas, you will pay through the nose. Scout for souvenirs and buy them at the end of the stay, any money not spent during the day goes in the Souvenir kitty. Walk, Paris is not that big a city. Bring your student card, students have special rates and sometimes foreign students can get those special rates too.

    Have a nice time.
