On IRS site, it says that any company who pays a sub contractor more than 600$ has to file Form 1099 Misc.
Is this really mandatory for a foreign company?
Would an invoice or a proof of payment be enough to justify that income?
My question is more about the 1099 Misc form.
Is it mandatory or no?
Or what matters is the amount you report only?

I know McGill is an English-speaking school but I was thinking the program of medicine might be a little bit different. For example, medical students need to work in hospitals and communicate with the patients, right? What if a patient only speaks French and not English?
I was wondering if McGill medical school requires applicants for a proof of French proficiency?
Do I have to take a French test?
