What are the best places/good ways for students to find short term accommodations in Paris, France?

I will be there for 8 weeks in May and June 2009 for a service internship, and I don’t want to spend a lot of money. What is the best way I can find an inexpensive apartment, or perhaps a room with a family? Also, any other advice on traveling to Paris or staying there would be great.

    youth hostels,
    university students websites or physical posting board (Students are always looking for roommates).
