What are the top ten french entrees to order at a french restaurant?
If I were to be able to say that I have really experienced the french food that everyone seems to love so much, what would I have to eat?
Your Connection To Everything French
If I were to be able to say that I have really experienced the french food that everyone seems to love so much, what would I have to eat?
1- Chevre chaud (heated goats’ cheese on a bed of green salad) with croutons
2- Pate de foie gras (duck liver)
3- Tranche de jambon/melon (French smoked ham with melon and pickles)
4- Any salad
5- Tablette de saucisson (french sucisson with butter and toasts)
6- Huitres – Oysters
7- Crevettes en saison (shrimps in various sauces)
8- Carpaccio (beef or salmon or veal) – a layer of raw meat with a hint of garlic and some pickles
9- Soupe a l’oignon (onion soup) or any "veloute" – a creamy soup of asparagus or mushroom
10- Champignons (mushrooms) panes au four
Don’t forget the wine … French considers water as "only for fish" … haha
It is flattering to order their house wine if you are not in a popular restaurant
Think the top ten would depend on which region in France you are in. For general French dishes,I might guess crepes, omelette, quiche, coq au vin, cassolet, bouillabaisse, biftek frites, poulet frites, pot au feu, different braised or saute meats(veal, beef, chicken, rabbit, fish, shellfish) with sauces.
#1 French fries and #2 French toast.
Bon chance !
