What caused the Bohemian Revolution in France?
What I mean is, what was France like pre-Bohemian Revolution? What exactly was this counter-culture against?
Alright, I’m aware that it is an art movement. However, I also refer to it as counter-culture because, of course, art can change, and the artists I’ve read about seemed to live a certain lifestyle, so it’s not necessarily JUST about art. What I am trying to figure out is what changed artistically. What was the popular style beforehand?
The Bohemian Revolution was an ART MOVEMENT.
Late 1800′s. centered around the Montmartre area of Paris to become part of the ever rapidly expanding artistic community there.
There was a group of actual Bohemian artists, like Viktor Oliva, Luděk Marold, Mikoláš Aleš, Jakub Arbes, and Karel Vítězslav Mašek. (from Bohemia) were right in the heart of the "Bohemian Revolution".
Famous French artist Toulouse-Lautrec and the hay days of Moulin Rouge was during this time.
