What would the best route be from Florence to Paris by car?

We will be visiting Florence and would like to drive to Paris, renting a car. What would be the most scenic/nicer towns to visit along the way? Which route to take? Or would it make more sense just to fly to Paris?

I think it would make more sence to take the train, but I am a train lover.
That will take about 11:30 hours travel time, with 2 changes, going through the Alps, scenic, and in France you change into a TGV, so very fast there.
The cost, compared to the cost of renting a car, paying for petrol and paying a drop off charge, will not be that much. And you will still see the countryside.

Google maps expects you to use about the same time, with 3 different routes: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Florence&rls=com.microsoft:nl:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=ie7&rlz=1I7ADBF&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=nl&tab=wl

If you have a couple of days to spend on the travel it will be worth the money, as you can stop for a while in the cities and villages underway.
Which route you take does not really make a difference, as you will find top locations everywhere in Europe.
Just do not stay on the motorway and take time exploring.
If you just want to make it in one day, do not bother renting a car, as you will only see motorway all the way.

Flying will be faster, but will still cost the better part of a day, with the local transport to get to and from the airports, check in, security waits and so on.
You can compare flight prices on Skyscanner, or an other comparison site, for your train tickets I will add links to the French, Swiss and Italian rail planners, so you can compare there too.
