Which painting is across the room from the Mona Lisa in the Louvre Museum in Paris?

I went to the Louvre last summer and visited the room where the Mona Lisa was held. It was beautiful, but the one that blew me away was the painting directly across the room from it. Unfortunately I don’t remember the name of the painting, all I remember was its gargantuan size and incredible detail. Can anyone refresh my memory?

Hmmmm…..the last time I visited the Louvre, it was so long ago, that the Mona Lisa was practically a new acquisition :) I seem to remember that it was in it’s own small area, with on other work across from it at that time.

In it’s new location, Perhaps the painting you’re referring to is the Virgin of the Rocks.

I certainly miss Paris. I envy you.
